Lula P. Williams
Lula P. Williams, formerly of Hayfield Twp., passed away at 12:18 am on January 28, 2017 at the Rolling Fields Elder Care Community, Conneautville where she had been residing with her husband. She was 83.
She was born at Hickernell's Corners, on February 24, 1933 a daughter of the late James Dale and Harriet Mary (Davis) Lewis. On August 4, 1956 she married Thomas L. Williams, who survives. She was a homemaker and in her early years had worked at various business's in the Meadville area. She was a member of the Norrisville United Methodist Church, and had been Past Matron of the former Mead Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and currently was a member of the Albion Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a Grottoete affiliated with the Kismet Grotto's. She was an avid quilter enjoyed quilting with at the Crawford County Senior Center and also with various other quilters in the Crawford County area. She found great pleasure in quilting blankets for the Linus project. She enjoyed being a classroom grandmother for over 4 years. She had a heart of gold and was known by all who met her as "Grandma Lou". She had a love for Pittsburgh Sports, enjoyed playing cards and enjoyed family gatherings around the fire. Lula enjoyed baking and cooking and is remembered for her cookies, apple pie and potato salad.
In addition to her husband of 60 years who resides at Rolling Fields, she is survived by her daughter, Mary Fairlamb of Hadley, Three sons, Thomas Williams and his wife Leslie of Jackson Center, Dale Williams and his wife Sarah of Oregonia, OH and Troy Williams of Gilboa, WV. 1 sister Anna Cole of WA. 6 grandchildren, Ashley Staples and her husband Dustin of Jinga, Uganda, Darby Downing and her husband Nicholas of Simpsonville, SC., Ruth Williams of Cincinnati, OH, Thomas Williams of Oregonia, OH, Troy Lee Williams of Summerville, WV and Maggie Williams of Oregonia, OH. 2 step grandchildren, Kelly Philson of Washington, DC and Melissa McCreary and her husband Ryan of Edinboro. 2 great grandchildren, Malachi Staples and Maelynn Lula Staples who was named after her great grandmother Lula, both of Jinga, Uganda. 2 step great grandchildren, Aiden and Mason McCreary of Edinboro.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother John Lewis.
Private family services will be held with Rev. Timothy Bowser, pastor of the Sheakleyville United Methodist Church, officiating. The interment will follow at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville. Family and friends are invited to share memories and condolences online at
The family has suggested that memorial tributes may be made to the support the ministry of Dustin and Ashley Staples in Jinga, Uganda in care of the Cochranton Community Church, 3993 Church Street, Cochranton, PA. 16314.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the Staff at Rolling Fields for the excellent care provided to Lula on Elm Street at the facility.
