Venango, PA - Norma Lee Woodward, 79, of Venango passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at UPMC Hamot. Norma was born in Venango, PA on July 1, 1946, daughter of the late Stanley Charles Smith and Mildred Sorger Smith. She graduated from Cambridge Springs High School with the class of 1964 and from Edinboro College in 1968. On May 25, 1968, Norma married Walter Bernard Woodward. She worked as a caseworker for the PA Department of Welfare until 1971, when she elected to stay home to raise their children. In 1985, she continued working as social worker for the Meadville Care Center and the Crawford County Care Center until 1997, when she worked at UPMC Hamot until 2004. She also was employed as a TSS at local schools until her retirement in 2013.

She was a lifelong member of Gospel of Christ Church in Venango serving in numerous offices and teaching positions and was involved in women's group and Kids Club. She loved reading Christian novels and biographies, camping with family, nature walks, backyard birdwatching, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Sherry Lynn Woodward Shokry on October 11, 2014, with whom she is now reunited in heaven, son-in-law Usama Shokry, and brother Earl Smith.

Survivors include husband Walter Woodward of Venango, son Stephen Woodward and his wife Terri of Meadville, granddaughters Kylie and Kendyl Woodward, brother Frederic Smith and his wife Barbara of Florida, brother Carl Smith and his wife Donna of Edinboro, sister Jean Black and her husband Richard of Meadville, sister Geraldine Reichel and her husband Jim of Saegertown, brother Donald Smith of Venango, sister Mildred Douglas and her husband Wilfred of Meadville, sister Mary Brown and her husband Ronald of Cambridge Springs, brother Stanley Smith and his wife Irene of McKean, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Van Matre Funeral Home, Cambridge Springs on Monday, August 25, from 6-8 pm and are invited to the funeral service to be held there on Tuesday, August 26, at 10 am.
