Conneautville, PA - Sandra Ann Artman, 79, of Conneautville passed away October 31, 2025 at UPMC Presbyterian following complications from a fall. She was born in Meadville, PA to the late Clarence and Asta Ingvarda (Johnson) Baker on April 13, 1946. She married Richard Hughes who preceded her in death in 1971. She subsequently married Gary Artman who also preceded her in death in 2007.
Sandy spent her life living and working in her hometown. She worked at the local bar and restaurant for 37 years, through three changes in ownership starting with Bake's Newt's Inn, the McBride's Shamrock Inn and most recently Conneautville's Valley Inn that her daughter operates and co-owns. She also was known for her fish bowl and bunny rabbit booth that she operated during the Conneaut Valley Homecoming fair for 13 years. She enjoyed spending time on her front porch watching traffic and visiting with those who passed by.
She is survived by: a great-niece, Payton Adams who she resided with and shared a very special bond, three children, Tammy Mead , Traci (Mark) Hemmerlin and Rich (Cindy Williams) Hughes, three grandchildren, Mark II, Alex and Shelby Hemmerlin, a step-son Eric Artman, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Sandy is preceded in death by two brothers' James Baker and Gordon Baker, a sister Gerry Hoover and a son-in-law Henry Mead.
Honoring her wishes there will be no services at this time. The family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
