Thomas J. Panko, 81, of Springboro, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie. He was born August 30, 1940 on the family farm in Springboro, a son of the late John and Helen (Mikovich) Panko. Thomas graduated from Conneaut Valley High School in 1958 and he retired as a carman inspector for the Norfolk Southern Railroad after 32 years of service. While working for the railroad, he also owned his own dairy farm and enjoyed working in the fields. He was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church in Crossingville. Thomas enjoyed playing sports, and especially loved watching his grandchildren when they played sports. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and vacationing with the family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Panko. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Delores (Smialek) Panko, four children, Timothy Panko, Regina Blakely and her husband, Mark, of Erie, Todd Panko and his wife, Kimberly, of Springboro, Danelle Milk and her husband, Jason, of Concord, OH, a step-daughter, Debra Dandridge of Newport News, VA, eight grandchildren, Kyle Panko, Timothy Panko Jr., Drew Panko, Christopher Panko, Dylan Milk, Tyler Milk, Peyton Milk, Makayla Milk, three great-grandchildren, a brother, Richard Panko and his wife, Gert, of Conneautville, and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held at the Mattera Funeral Home, 188 East State Street, Albion, on Saturday, July 16, 2022, from 11am until the time of a memorial service there at 1pm with Fr. Marc Solomon officiating. Burial will be private by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Thomas to the American Heart Association.
