Thomas Gerald Tracy Sr.
Thomas Gerald Tracy Sr., 67, of Lake Creek Road, Cochranton, PA passed away on Wednesday November 27, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family following a brief battle with cancer.
He was born on October 13, 1952 in Franklin, PA, the son of Lynn and Ruth (Grace) Tracy.
Tom enlisted in the United States Air Force on January 14, 1976. He made a career out of the military as an Information Manager, rising to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant (E-8). He was stationed at bases in Florida, New Hampshire, Nebraska, Virginia, and the United Kingdom.
For the last eight years of his Air Force career, Tom was a member of the Strategic Air Command and Air Combat Command Inspector General teams, evaluating the Air Force's combat and mission readiness at bases around the world.
He honorably retired from active duty Air Force on February 29, 1996 and moved back to his hometown of Cochranton.
After retirement, Tom worked at Multi-Plastic in Saegertown until the company was reorganized. He then went back to school at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.
Tom put his education to good use, working as a Therapeutic Staff Support working with at risk adults and youth.
After 2 years, he decided that he was going to retire. However, Tom was never one to sit and rest. He decided to return to work and become a school bus driver for Girardat, transporting special needs children to and from school. Tom drove for the company until his death.
He was an extremely active member of the Sugar Lake United Methodist Church in Cochranton, where he served on the church council as Treasurer, a position he held until he passed.
Above all else, Tom was a family man. He married the love of his life, Cheryl Beuchat, on January 27, 1973. They had three children together, Michelle, Terri, and Thomas Jr.
Tom was devoted to his six grandchildren, thinking nothing of driving hundreds of miles or through local terrible weather conditions to watch his grandchildren run cross country, play football, cheer at basketball and football games, or watching them just be kids.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brother William L. Tracy and his sisters, Judith M. Tracy, Beverly M. Ferry, Rosalyn M. Daily, and an infant sister, Baby Tracy.
Tom is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cheryl; a daughter, Michelle Jackowski and her husband Ed of Cambridge Springs, PA; a daughter, Terri Locey and her husband David of Charlotte Courthouse, VA; and a son, Thomas G. Tracy Jr, and his wife Thuy of Nashville, TN.
He is also survived by six grandchildren, Rebecca Locey, Camden Locey, Brooke Jackowski, Thomas G. Tracy III, Talia Tracy, and Torah Tracy.
Tom is survived by his siblings; Mildred Andrews of West Chester, OH, Joyce Rhoades and her husband Floyd of Meadville, Linda Doviak of Jonestown, Sandra Paris and her husband Richard of Meadville, Patricia Shorts and her husband Grant of Mooresville, NC, Victor Tracy and his wife Zelma of Meadville and John Tracy of Meadville.

Dear Cheryl, Michelle, Terri, Thomas and families,

We are so sorry for your loss. I remember Tom singing the Beatles song Michelle to his little girl at the rehearsal dinner for my wedding 36 and a half years ago. I appreciate his kindness towards my mother the past few years - she regularly talks about his visits. I'm sorry we can't be with you. May his memory be eternal!
