Twila M. McKay Corey
Twila M. McKay Corey, 87, of Meadville, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2019 following an unexpected illness.

She was born June 30, 1932 in Jackson Center, a daughter of Hugh G. and Alice M. Whitman McKay. She grew up in Cooperstown and loved the area she came from. She married Wayne G. Corey in 1953.

Twila was a 1950 graduate of Cochranton High School. She worked at the Woolworth Department Store until she married and raised a family. She subsequently worked as a certified nurse's aide at the Mead Nursing Home and later at the Crawford County Care Center. She transferred to the Crawford County Court House and worked in the Register and Recorders office until her retirement.

Twila cared for her mother and they enjoyed gardening together. In addition to gardening and her flower boxes on her balcony at Holland Towers, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, games, crafts, game nights with her friends and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Twila was of the Protestant faith.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy L. Corey of Meadville and Debra L. Maloney (Michael) of Meadville; a son, Eric J. Corey (Becky) of Youngsville, NC; six grandchildren, Matthew Maloney, Dayna Mitchell (Justin), Jesse Clark (Wendy), Sarah Corey, Kyle Corey and Cale Corey; four great-grandchildren, Brynn, Kasey, Mila and Bayne; one niece and four nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Beth E. Corey; a son, Steven R. Corey; a granddaughter, Elaine Sampson; and two brothers, Robert and Leo McKay.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, October 18th from 4 to 6 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE where a memorial service will follow at 6:00 p.m. with the Rev. Frank Weingard officiating.

Interment will be in Lupher Chapel Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Rd. or the Meadville Public Library, 848 N. Main St., both of Meadville, PA 16335.

Twila was a good friend of mine. We worked together at the County Home. I also did her hair at the Towers. I will miss her hug and her friendly nature.. She is at peace now... Her whole family has my deepest sympathy..
