Amarillo, Texas - Walter Wybiral, Sr., 88, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on April 3, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Faith Southwest Methodist Church, 4415 Wesley Street, with Pastor Mark Welshimer officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 6, 2026, at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Walter was born on October 18, 1937, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, to Matthew and Julianna Wybiral. He graduated from Randolph East Mead High School in 1954. That same year, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country until 1963 and achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. On November 1, 1956, Walter married the love of his life, Patricia Acker, at Hamlin Chapel Methodist Church in Sagertown, Pennsylvania. Walter dedicated 33 years of his career to PPG, where he served as Supervisor of Maintenance. He was a man of strong faith and service, contributing his time as Chairman of the Church Trustees in the financial sector. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and gave generously of his time volunteering with the Red Cross, the Veterans Hospital, and Bethania Hospital. Walter will be remembered as an all-around good man, steadfast, hardworking, and deeply devoted to those he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents Matthew and Julianna; his brothers, Robert and Thomas Wybiral; and his sisters, Mary Huzinec, Margaret Hoegerl, Francis Yanc, Martha Harry and Emily Sexton. Walter is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Wybiral of the home; his daughter, Debbie Jackson (Jeff) of Amarillo, Texas; and his sons, Joe Wybiral (Darla) of Lawndale, North Carolina and Tim Wybiral (Beth) of Worthington, Ohio. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Jill Leonhart (Johnathan), Sarah Wilson (Jody), Matt Jackson (Leah), Brian Wybiral (Brandy), and Chrissy Morrow (Mark); and twelve great-grandchildren: Zach Morrow (Ava), Mia Wilson, Eisley Wilson, Lyla Wilson, Evelyn Wilson, Bailey Leonhart, Addison Leonhart, Carter Jackson, Myles Jackson, Emma Wybiral, Bryson Wybiral, and Easton Wybiral.The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Amarillo VA Health Care System for the compassionate care provided to Walter.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Amarillo VA Health Care System, ATTN: Voluntary Service, 6010 Amarillo Blvd West, Amarillo, TX 79106.
